This was a total sucess and in fact the guy who added in the models in the final shot which I don't have called me to ask me which parts of the image were 3d, photography, and hand painted. I felt that was one of the best compliments I could have recieved. When someone who spends their day to day editing photos can't tell what is real and what is not then you've done a great job. Think of the ways you could utilize this... You could put any actor any where you'd like using technology like this. While this matte painting was simply a still frame we only had to technically have one angle however, in order to possibly make changes this matter painting could have actually been animated. We needed the camera to move incase one of the other angles whas choosen. Animated matte paintings are not uncommon and we also do those. If you want a scene on mars in front of an alien built structure we can do that. It's not the cheapest service we offer but it sure beats the cost of flying to Mars to shoot on location! :) The images below are a small sampling of what went into making this shot. |
