Indy3D FAQ

  1. Are you hiring?

[1.] "What is 3D Visualization?"

In order to understand 3D visualization you must first understand traditional visualization. The best way to do this is probably to give you an example. If an architect sends a traditional visualization artist a front elevation the artist would use that to make a watercolor, pencil, marker type illustration to show the end client what the project is going to look like. 3D visualization is the most cutting edge way of conveying your ideas to other people. It involves creating computer generated models of your concepts complete with textures and lighting. It can even go so far as to be animated with audio. No other form of pre visualization comes close to the realism involved in 3D. Below is a link to our gallery where you will see examples of some of our visualization examples. [Indy3D Gallery]

[2.] "Who needs it?"

Anyone who is making, creating, or building anything that would need to have planning. Anyone who needs to convey an idea to someone else effectively. Architects, Builders, Designers, Inventors, Educators, nearly every profession could utilize 3D.

[3.] "How much does it cost?"

We offer a wide variety of services and they are priced on a per project basis. Initial phone consultations are always free.

[4.] "How is it better than other techniques?"

There is nothing like having a 3D model. Other methods can't hold a candle to 3D and its capabilities for conveying your ideas. From looking through the site you should be convinced and the differences should be obvious but if you still don't see the benefits over the old traditional methods please don't hesitate to give us a call so we can explain how we can generate any art and replicate any style you have seen.

[5.] "Will it be in scale/ what scale?"

Yes, It will be in scale. It is typically done in US feet and Inches however the scale is customizable and we can set it to your preferred units of measure. We are accurate to within 1/164th of an inch.

[6.] "How do you view the future of 3D visualization?"

Indy3D visualizes our future on the net in a fully interactive 3D environment where shopping, community, and entertainment will brave new horizons that are only limited by our imagination. The future is going to be very interesting and we plan on not only being there for it but being a big part of it.

[7.] "Do you cater to smaller companies?"

Absolutely! Smaller companies are some of our favorite clients. We have made lots of friends along the way with smaller business and it is very exciting for us to help be a part of a companies success. We always enjoy watching a new or small company reap the rewards of professional marketing and advertising help.

[8.] "What do you need to do the job? (drawings, blueprints, photos, etc.)"

Any media that would help our designers better understand the project would be ideal. But we can even work off a napkin if need be.

[9.] "How will using 3D effect my company?"

Using 3D will show your clients that you mean business and your competitors that you are someone to chase up the ladder of success. People embracing 3D visualization services right now are the companies setting the trends in their fields. We believe that you will be very happy with the success 3D brings you.

[10.] "Is this the same thing they use in hollywood?"

Yes it is. The technology that Indy3D uses is also the same technology that you have seen in movies such as Star Wars, The Matrix, The Lord of the Rings, and more..

[11.] "Can you do an actual physical model of my part/ project?"

Yes we can. We can make a 3D model of your part and output it to a resin, paper, plaster, and even a metal prototype using a process known as stereo lithography. The service usually ranges between $1800-2500.

[12.] "Why cant i just hire an in house 3D expert?"

You of course could hire an in house expert in 3D but you would most likely find that your options are few, your overhead high, and your retention weak. There are many opportunities for 3D artists with games and hollywood so saturated in the world which makes it easy for them to bounce in and out of your company. With the fact that their salaries are high and the fact that we have setup Indy3D to be an efficient mill for this type of work at the lowest cost to the client as possible I think you will agree that it makes no sense to hire and in house 3D expert when you have one right here ready to get to work immediately outputting the quality you are seeking.

[13.] "Why cant i learn it myself or send one of my personnel for training?"

3D training is both a science and an art form. The training is exhaustive and lifelong. Many of the people working with Indy3D have educations that have taken well over a decade to achieve. A 3D visualization expert must have a background in fine arts and also computer science. It is possible for you to learn 3D visualization yourself or send a current employee for training but expect quality 3D to be years out of reach. This shouldn't be a concern as Indy3D will be here to serve you at an affordable price for many years to come.

[14.] "Can you make 3D models of anything?"

Yes.

[15.] "Can you take pictures and measurements of existing buildings and generate a model from them?"

Yes we can.

[16.] "Do you do cost break downs or material lists for construction?"

We do not at this time offer material lists or cost break downs for the actual construction of a building. As the construction industry moves towards single build models this service may become available.

[17.] "Do you offer services other than 3D visualization?"

Yes, we offer any type of print graphics such as brochures, packaging, and posters. We also offer web design and development including e-commerce solutions, content management systems, and more. Indy3D also offers multimedia cd creation, film special effects work, video editing, post production, and animation for broadcast and film.

[18.] "Can you do work for people outside the state or country?"

Yes.

[19.] "Do I need any special equipment, software, or glasses to view 3D?"

In the case of our printed renderings you do not need any equipment at all. To view animations you will either need a vcr or dvd and a television or a computer. Our 3D does not require the typical red and blue glasses however we do offer that type of 3D as well.

[20.] "Can you make interactive 3D for my website?"

Yes we can. There are several different technologies at our disposal that allow us to make 3D modules for your website that could do things like change a products color and rotate it for a 360 degree view or do a fly through of a building. This is an expanding area of our business and we will be putting a section up dedicated to exactly that in short order so please check back and don't hesitate to call for more info.

[21.] "Can the models/animations be changed or modified later over time to reflect changes or planning in the project?"

Yes. Its not at all uncommon to actually use the modeling process as a design tool. Many of our clients change roof lines of buildings or colors and materials during the process multiple times to find the exact look they are trying to archive.

[21.] "Are you hiring?"

We are not hiring at this time but are always interested in seeing portfolios and networking. If you feel you have a mutually beneficial product or service to offer we'd be glad to hear from you.
